Introduction
My guitars are made from the finest instrument quality timbers, from Australia and around the world. The majority
of my guitars are customised in some way. I always try and put the essence of the player into the building. I use a
combination of specialist hand tools and computer controlled cutting (CNC). Owning a "jb" Guitar is about having something
completely unique and customised to your needs.
Timbers
The timbers I source are based on the players preference of tone and aesthetic. I predominately use American Maple and Mahogany for necks
and bodies with ebony being the prefered fretboard material. Other timbers I have used include Rosewood (Amazon, Indian and New Guinea),
Sitka Spruce, Tasmanian Myrtle and Queensland Maple.
Pickups
The majority of my guitars have been fitted with Seymour Duncan Pickups. The wide variety of tones and styles offered by
Pickup manufacturers makes this part of the process a tantillizing choice. Varietys include - Single Coil, Humbucker, P90, etc.
I am now starting to make my own Pickups, which will also be an option for future guitars. I also fit piezo systems to many of my guitars,
which gives the player another dimension to their tone.
Parts
I source parts for the guitars locally and worldwide. I sometimes make parts myself depending on the challenge at hand. The Mother of Pearl inlay
is mostly custom cut in my workshop and gives added uniqueness to the instrument.
